About Us

The Collaboration Network for Biomedical Scientists (CoLab Biomed) is a social network site, a collaboration tool and an e-learning and knowledge management application for biomedical scientists at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE). It is a joint project of the Centre for Medical Biotechnology (ZMB) and the Graduate School of Biomedical Science (BIOME) within the main research area Biomedical Sciences.

If you are a UDE scientist and performing research (e.g. a Ph.D. or MD thesis) in the biomedical field, we'd like to invite you to participate and become a member of the CoLab Biomed research community.  CoLab Biomed provides a modern digital collaboration and learning environment, and aims to support you with its integrated tools and services:

  • Communicate about your research and explore the interests and activities of colleagues.
  • Get in contact and collaborate with the other research experts and groups working at the Campus and the Clinic involved in the same field of study.
  • Search and contribute to the information commons, a knowledge database containing scientific methods, a collection of plasmids provided by the research groups, recommended biomedical learning resources and collaboratively written shared manuals.
  • Get an overview of the distributed available facilities and expertise and manage your access easily.
  • Stay informed about courses and events or organize and schedule own events.

If you are interested in biomedical research performed at the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Campus and the Hospital, and if you want to get an idea about its context and expertise, we'd like to invite you to the CoLab Biomed public web site. Get to know the biomedical scientists by their personal online profiles and read about their research interests, current research work or related topics on their blogs. Explore research groups,  Ph.D. programs and available research facilities belonging to the main research focus Biomedical Sciences of the University of Duisburg-Essen and get an impression of the specialized biomedical research competencies of the involved and interconnected people and groups.

Note that the current CoLab Biomed application is a Beta release. Unpredictable bugs are likely to appear, as well as performance and layout issues which still need to be fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience. Feel free to contact colab-biomed@uni-due.de if you'd like to notify us about any problems or mistakes.
