After finishing my Bachelor I was looking back on my bachelor thesis and was wondering how I could further improve my writing in terms of my upcoming master studies thesis and as a scientist. Therefore I started reading and studying a lot about scientific writing and how to publish research outcomes. Since I think of it as an important key skill for students and scientists as well, I would like to share the results of my work and learning by providing you with a hopefully useful and time-saving overview of the essentials of scientific writing.

At the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), more than 80 groups perform research in the university's main research area Biomedical Sciences. Ich schrieb meine Masterarbeit (MA) in der Arbeitsgruppe für Mikrobiologie an der UDE. Da ich zuvor schon ein Praktikum in der Arbeitsgruppe gemacht hatte, fiel mir die Eingewöhnung leicht und auch mit dem Thema war ich vertraut. Das hat mir einige Arbeit erleichtert. Ich kann nur empfehlen vor der MA ein Praktikum zu machen. Wichtig ist auch, dass die Versuche, Ergebnisse und die Richtung der Arbeit immer wieder diskutiert werden. Dafür wurde sich in meiner Arbeitsgruppe viel Zeit genommen.
