Background: The Division of Theoretical Systems Biology at DKFZ pursues a multidisciplinary approach to understand how biological function emerges from interacting components - molecules within a cell and cells within an organism. Thomas Höfer is focusing on mathematical modeling and computational analyses of the kinetics of molecular machines in gene regulation and dynamic signal-transduction and gene-regulatory networks governing cell proliferation and differentiation decisions.
