Research interests:

We use structural DNA nanotechnology as a tool to gain full control over the spatial arrangement of molecules at the nanoscale. Taking advantage of the self-assembly properties of the DNA, structural frameworks of different geometries and nanosized dimensions can be realized. Functionalization of those structures at well-defined positions by chemical methods allows placing distinctive molecules into a predictable spatial arrangement, much like pawns into a molecular pegboard. We are interested in developing different classes of functional DNA nanostructures for the efficient targeting of proteins at multiple sites. We are also aiming at using these DNA-based materials for the assembly of artificial protein machineries and for other attractive applications in diverse fields of nanobiotechnology.
